The most immersive format of learning that puts learners in an imaginary world, shutting them out from the real world through use of a VR headset
Augmented reality
AR is a technology that combines superimposed computer-generated imagery on a learner’s screen pointed at the real world, helping them learn by interacting with that combined environment
Templatised simulations
A simulation format that features a set/pre-configured environment, which can be modified to switch out challenges and characters
Face-to-face
A format where learners and facilitators get together in the same place at the same time to achieve a specific learning objective
Webcast
A presentation/seminar conducted using streaming tools/platforms from a single source to many simultaneous learners (Live or on demand)
Real-life simulations
A learning format that mimics real-life environment and conditions in a controlled environment 
Job Aids (lists, text, tables, infographics, symbols, labels)
A format to guide learners by giving them easy-to-consume information they require at the exact time of need
Process flow diagram
A graphical representation or diagrammatic sequence which shows the flow of steps in a process
Case studies / LFI (learning from incidents)
A research method involving an up-close, in-depth and detailed examination of a particular case.
Hands-on demo
A format that gives learners the chance to try out new software/equipment/tools in an online learning environment
Hands-on field demo
A format that gives learners the chance to try out new software/equipment/tools offline, guided by a mentor
Graphics, illustrations, images, photos, animations
These formats provide learners knowledge in bite-sized format, can also be referred to as micro-learning
Audio/Video Stories
Electronically recorded audio or video files that can be used in various formal learning formats and are recorded for the purpose of teaching others about concepts, situations or specific contexts
360 Video
A format of immersive video where the learner can virtually view and experience the full environment around, and not just what’s in front of them
3D Walkthroughs
This format involves a realistic 3D visualisation of an environment, which allows the learner to explore places without physically travelling there
3D Models
A format that uses three-dimensional representations or models to understand an object's or terrain’s size, shape, and texture
