Migrating Control Room from Automation Anywhere v10.5 to v11.x

You should be a Control Room administrator with View and Manage Migration permission to be able to use the Migration Wizard tool.

This will migrate data from any 10.x Control Room version to the current 11.2 version. The wizard can be launched anywhere in a browser from the Control Room.

Before beginning migration, make sure you have all the right things in place.

These include:

Taking backups
Recording credentials and other details
Installing destination infrastructure

Note: If one migration process is already underway, do not initiate another migration process.

You can use the tool to migrate data in phases depending on your business requirements.

This means you can migrate the following independently.

Roles Users	Dependent data such as licenses, credentials, bots, and schedules are migrated automatically.
Bots	Dependent data such as such as sub-tasks, files and schedules are migrated automatically.

There are 10 key points you have to keep in mind before, during and after migration.

Please go through each in detail.

The Automation Anywhere Enterprise 10.x environment should be strictly controlled and monitored once the migration process is initiated. Hence, it is recommended that you do not:

Create users, roles, and permissions
Create and upload any meta data (such as new automation bots)
Create new schedules
Check out bots (if version control is enabled)
Schedule and deploy on-demand bots

Data that can be migrated includes:

Repository data
Meta-data available in database. Users, roles, licenses, and permissions
Automation schedules
System defined credentials
Application settings
Automation bots with version history (if applicable)
Bot Insight data

Data migration excludes:

Devices/Clients
Audit logs
License information of source Control Room
User defined credentials
Version Control Settings
Schedule history

You cannot migrate from Automation Anywhere Enterprise v9.x If you are using a version older than v10 LTS, you should first migrate to v10 LTS using the v10 LTS Migration Utility and then migrate from v10 LTS to v11.x
Note: Hot fixes on v10 LTS are supported for migration to v11.x.
Migrating data from 11 GA (v11.0) to v11.2 is not supported.
If Version Control is enabled in v10.x Control Room then you must enable the same in v11.x Control Room manually since the settings for Version Control are not migrated. It is mandatory to use a fresh SVN database for v11.x and ensure that it is different from the v10.x SVN database.

Ensure the SQL database service is running during the migration process.
Migration of SAML configuration data is not supported.
Data from source Control Room configured for one user type cannot be migrated to destination Control Room configured for another user type, i.e. user data configured for Active Directory cannot be migrated to a Non Active Directory.
