Help your Client

If the body is to remain with you at the practice, then ask another member of your team to escort your client from the bereavement suite. Do not leave the body unaccompanied whilst your client is on site.

If your client is taking their pet with them and you need to handle the pet’s body, always seek the owner’s permission first.

You should have a plan in place on how you will move the body. Suitable options include pet coffins, a stretcher or a pet bed.

Suggesting the use of a plastic bag or expecting your client to provide a method are unacceptable and will result in your client becoming highly distressed. You should accompany your client to their vehicle.
